Tuchel set for new deal

Thomas Tuchel is set to be rewarded with a new contract by Chelsea.

The German took over from Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge in January, initially on an 18-month contract.

However, he has enjoyed great success in his brief time in charge, taking them to the finals of both the Champions League and the FA Cup, and also returning them to the top four in the Premier League.

In doing so he has also swayed the opinion of those fans who were originally opposed to his appointment, and who believed that club legend Lampard should have been given more time by the club.

Tuchel is keen to sign the deal reportedly, having had initial reservations about the short-term nature of his first contract.

It is expected that his new contract will see him earn an increase over his current salary of £7 million a year and that he will be given substantial transfer funds in the summer to continue to remodel the squad in line with his ideas.
