Manchester United have persuaded Edinson Cavani to stay at the club, after he signed a bumper new deal.
The Uruguayan international joined United on a one-year deal that is due to end at the end of the season.
There had been suggestions that he wanted to move back to South America in order to be closer to his friends and family, and he did have an offer from Boca Juniors ion the table.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted him to commit to another 12 months at old Trafford, and to try and bait the hook for the 34-year old, the club were prepared to offer him a 25% increase on his currents alary.
Cavani scored the third in United’s comeback win against Aston Villa on Sunday, to bring his season’s tally to 15 in all competitions, even though he has not started every game.
His current salary at with the Manchester club is £200,000 a week.
