Arsenal are reported to be closing in on a deal to sign Guido Rodriguez from Real Betis.
The 27-year old is an Argentine defensive midfielder, who has played ten times for his senior international team.
He is a tough tackling defensive midfielder who has acquired something of a reputation as a hard man, having picked up 10 yellow cards for Betis in 31 league appearances this summer. He has scored one goal for them in the current campaign.
The Gunners are in the market for midfield reinforcements with Dani Ceballos due to head back to Spain after his two years on loan, with little appetite, on either side, for his stay to be further extended or made into a permanent deal.
Rodriguez has a £69.5 million release clause in his contract, but would have to pay less than that to secure his services because Betis are faced by severe financial difficulties and need to sell players to release funds.
