Chelsea have ramped up their interest in Bayern Munich defender Niklas Süle.
The West London club want to bring in a new defender in the summer to strengthen their backline, and Süle, who is likely to cost around £30 million, is one of their top targets.
The 26-year-old will have one year left on his current contract wit Bayern in the summer, and here have been no discussions about a new deal at the club yet.
And with the impending departure of manager Hans Flick from the Allianz Arena hanging over the club, the contractual situation has become more complicated.
Since Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard, Chelsea’s have become much tighter at the back, but the German still has doubts about the quality of players at his disposal, all of whom, in his eyes, have faults of various kinds.
Süle has had his injury problems in the past but now appears to be over the worst of these.
