Barcelona want to wrap up the deal to sign Eric García from Manchester City by the end of this month.
The defender will be available for free when his contract at the Etihad runs out this summer, and has long been linked with a return to the club where he was an academy graduate, with the Catalans regarding him as their number one target to help strengthen their defence ahead of next season..
They have made several offers to him, most recently in March, and now they are waiting his response to them. That has seen them restructure the proposed deal, reducing the basic salary proposed, but compensating for in terms of add-ons, so that it amounts to roughly the same in net terms.
Garcia remains keen on a return to the Camp Nou, and with Barcelona not wanting the deal to drag on, there is hope that a framework agreement between the two parties can be in place by the end of April.
