Manchester City have completed the signing of Brazilian teenager Kayky, although he will not join up with his new employers until next year when he turns 18.
The 17-year-old who currently plays for Fluminense has drawn comparisons with Neymar, and was also wanted by Liverpool, Shakhtar Donetsk and several clubs in Spain.
However, City have stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a deal for an initial fee of £8.5 million. Add-ons may see that increase up to £15 million and Fluminense will also be entitled to a percentage of any add-on fee.
Kayky has scored twice in six appearances in the Brazilian state championship this year.
Initially he will join up with City’s youth set-up, but then may be loaned out in order to gain valuable first-team experience.
City are also being linked with another Fluminense teenager, defensive midfielder Matinho, who. Like Kayky, is also 17 years old.
