Liverpool are eyeing up a summer move for Barcelona midfielder Pedri.
He may be the long-term replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum who is widely expected to move in the opposite direction to the Nou Camp when his current deal at Anfield expires at the end of the season.
Pedri, who Is still only 18, joined Barcelona from Las Palmas last summer, for a fee of £4.5 million, but he has had an impressive first season with the Catalans, making 44 appearances in all competitions this campaign so far.
That form has enabled him to break into the Spanish national team as well, and he is hoping to be included in their squad for the European Championships in two months’ time.
Barcelona are aware of the interest in the midfielder and are prepared to offer him a new contract to ward off interest from abroad, but given their well-documented financial problems, may have to listen to the right offers.
