Eric Bailly is sceptical about Manchester United’s motives ion offering him a new deal at the club.
The Ivory Coast international has been offered a new deal which will extend his current contract beyond its scheduled end date of next June.
However, the 26-year-old believes this has little do with wit how much he is appreciated a s player, and is far more a reflection on the desire of the club to inflate his value in the transfer market this summer.
Bailly is frustrated by his lack of first-team opportunities at old Trafford this season, where he has only featured occasionally, and not at all in the last three games.
The central defender moved to the Premier League side from Villareal in 2016, and has played for the exactly 100 times. However, his time at Old Trafford has been impacted by a series of injury problems, and staying fit for any length of time has been a challenge.
