Manchester United are set to open talks with Eric Bailly about a new deal at the club.
The 26-year old centre-back has 15 months left on his current contract, but despite his limited appearances for the club because of his succession of injury problems, they feel he has a lot to offer when fit.
The Ivory Coast international signed from Villareal in 2016, but his appearance in the Europa League against AC Milan last Thursday in the Europa League was just his 100th in a United shirt.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has attributed his injuries to Bailly’s playing style, but believes that he is now becoming more robust and is ready to challenge Victor Lindelof for the spot ion the centre of defence partnering Harry Maguire.
Bailly began his professional career with Espanyol before moving to Villareal in 2015. He spent just one season there before securing his switch to the Premier League.
