Spurs are considering making a summer move for Southampton centre-back Jannik Vestergaard.
Jose Mourinho is looking to boost his defensive options, and the Danish international features high on his list of targets because of his aerial presence and ability to play on either side of the back two.
He will be entering the final year of his contract at the end of June and Tottenham are hoping that they can secure his services for a bargain price, much as they did last summer with Vestergaard’s international teammate Pierre- Emile Hojbjerg.
Vestergaard, who has a German mother, began his career with Hoffenheim before moving on first to Werder Bremen and then Borussia Monchengladbach. He joined the Saints from Southampton in 2018.
He has 19 international caps for Denmark, and is now back in the Southampton side after injury, his absence coinciding with their long losing streak, which has subsequently come to an end.
