Bruno Fernandes is in line for a new contract at the end of the season that will see him double his wages.
Since signing for Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, Fernandes has been one of the best players in the Premier League, scoring 35 goals in 63 appearances. This season he has found the net 16 times – including his penalty against City in Sunday’s Manchester derby – and provided 11 assists.
He agreed a five and a half year deal at that time, with an option for a further year, but he is one of the lowest first-team players at the club, and now they want to try and rectify that situation.
Per his new deal, he will earn £200,000 a week, with bonuses on top of that for appearances, goals, and trophy success.
That will still put him behind the top earners at the club though – David de Gea, Paul Pogba, and Anthony Martial.
Edison Cavani, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire also currently earn more than the Portuguese international.
