Bayern Munich have already snapped-up one of Liverpool’s main transfer targets after agreeing to sign Dayot Upamecano, who last month agreed to join the German champions from RB Leipzig.
And now comes news they may be about to pip them for another by moving for Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Senegalese international was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last summer, but any deal foundered on his valuation by the Serie A club. Jurgen apparently wanted to sign him during the last transfer window to try and solve his club’s defensive crisis, and was frustrated when he did not get the full backing of the Anfield hierarchy.
Instead, he signed Ozan Kabak on loan from Schalke for the erst of the season and concluded a £2 million deal for Preston; s Ben Davies.
Now it looks like Bayern are in pole position to secure the services of the 29-year-old,and hope that he will form a formidable defensive partnership with Upamecano, who has agreed a five-year deal at the Allianz Arena.
