Manchester United will begin talks with striker Edinson Cavani about extending his stay at the club.
The 34-year-old signed a one year deal in October, with an option of a further year, and now United want to take then up, having been impressed by his performances on the pitch and in training.
The Uruguayan international has scored 7 goals in 24 appearances for United since joining them on a free transfer having been released by PSG at the end of last season. He missed the trip to lay Real Sociedad in the Europa League with a muscle injury.
His time at United has not been without controversy, however. At the end of December, he was given a three year ban, and slapped with a £100,000 after using a racial slur in a social media post.
That led to protests from the Uruguay Football Federation that such expressions were common parlance in their country and not derogatory in any sense. Cavani accepted the punishment.
