Manchester City insist that they are not in talks to sign Lionel Messi.
The Argentine is in the last four months of his contract with Barcelona, and City are one of the teams that have been linked with him, along with French champions PSG.
They further maintain that they have not had any discussions with the player, which contradicts other reports.
Those indicate that the club offered Messi a five-year deal last summer worth £600 million. It is also suggested that the value of the deal on offer now has dropped substantially to £430 million, because the player will be one year older.
And the length of the proposed deal has been extended to eight years and will include an ambassadorial role with the other clubs in the City Football Group – including sister clubs Girona, New York City FC, Melbourne City, and Mumbai City – when his playing days are over.
