Manchester United have identify a possible replacement for Paul Pogba should he decide to leave the club.
Pogba’s future at United remains uncertain, with the player’s agent repeatedly dropping hints that his client wanted to move elsewhere, with both Real Madrid and former club Juventus frequently mentioned as potential destinations.
Now it has been reported that scouts form the club have watched Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde several times.
Valverde, who is 24, is a Uruguayan international who moved to the Spanish champions in 2016, initially joining their B team, before graduating to the senior squad a year later.
He spent the 2017 – 2018 season on loan with Deportivo La Coruña, but has since made 89 appearances for the Spanish champions, scoring 8 times. He won the Club World Championship with them in 2018, and picked up a league winner’s medal last season.
He ahs been capped 22 times by Uruguay, since making his debut in 2017.
