Arsenal and Fiorentina are in advanced talks about the transfer of Lucas Torreira to the Italian club in the summer.
The Uruguayan international moved to the Emirates from Sampdoria for a fee of £26 million in 2918, but after an encouraging first season at the Emirates, he struggled in his second under successive managers, and barely featured for Mikel Arteta after lockdown.
This season he has been on loan with Atlético Madrid, but he has barely featured to Diego Simeone’s side as they chase the Spanish league title. Atlético do have an option to buy the midfielder but, given how sparingly they have sued him, they are highly unlikely to exercise that.
Instead with the Gunners looking to trim their squad, and their wage bill, he seems set to return to Serie A, with Fiorentina, who were linked with the 25-year-old at one stage last summer.
Reports in Italy suggest that Torreira has already given his blessing to the deal.
