Liverpool have been linked with a new central defender in the summer.
The man in question is Torino’s Gleison Bremer – usually known just as Bremer – a 23-year old Brazilian. He likes to play ion the left-side of a defensive pair, and is regarded as a natural foil to Virgil van Dijk, when the Dutchman is fit again.
The League champions brought in Ben Davies form Preston and signed Ozan Kabak on loan from Schalke on transfer deadline day to try to solve their defensive woes, but none are regarded as ready-made replacements for the missing trio of van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip.
Jurgen Klopp’s side continued fallibility at the back was shown up once more at the King Power Stadium on Saturday as they conceded three goals in seven minutes to Leicester. Goalkeeper Alisson made another howler, and his mistakes have been down, in part, to the lack of settled cover in front of him.

He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
