Arsenal are the favourites to sign teenage striker Thiago Tomas this season.
Th 18-year old broke into the Sporting Lisbon side at the end of this season, and has yet to miss a league match for the Portuguese leaders during the current campaign.. He has featured in the starting XI eight times.
Tomes has scored twice and provided two assists as well.
Gunners Technical Director Edu and manager Mikel Arteta had the chance to watch Tomes in action whilst scouring Benfica ahead of their Europa League clash later this week and were impressed by what they saw.
So much so that they have already begun talks about a summer move for the youngster.
Tomas signed a five-deal with the Lisbon club last year with a £532 million release clause built into his contract. However, with the Portuguese club feeling the pinch because of the pandemic, they may be willing to accept a bod a s low as £20 million.
