Chelsea are set to hold talks with Thiago Silva over a contract extension.
Despite the fact that he joined the club on a free transfer from PSG, the 36-year-old has arguably been the most successful of all the players that Frank Lampard brought in last summer, both in terms of his impact on the field, and also what he brings in the dressing room.
He initially joined on a one-year deal, but that did include an option for a further year, and the Blues want ton sit down with the veteran to discuss extending it.
New manager Thomas Tuchel knows Silva well, having worked with him in Paris, and he is happy for him to stay, with the central defender likely to offered similar terms to his current deal.
Chelsea meanwhile would like to partner Silva with David Alaba next season, but they have now indicated they will only make a move for the Bayern Munich player if he lowers his exorbitant wage demands.
