French centre-back Aymeric Laporte is uncertain of his City future.
When he signed for the club in January 2018 form Athletic Bilbao for what was then a record fee for them, he seemed destined to become a City regular for years to come. However, having been an automatic starter, when fit, for pep Guardiola’s side in recent seasons, he has found himself on the bench mainly this campaign.
That is because summer arrival Rúben Dias has formed a formidable centre-back pairing with John Stones, who has experienced an unexpected return to form. City have the meanest defence in the league, having conceded just 13 goals all season.
Now he has dropped a hint that he may be looking for a move away from the Etihad if his situation does not improve.
Laporte did start in the win over Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday night in the left of a back three, but that was not in a formation usually deployed by Pep Guardiola.
