Liverpool are considering turning to the MLS to help solve their defensive crisis.
Already missing Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez with long-term injuries, they will also now have to cope without Joel Matip for some time as well, He is back on the treatment table after suffering ankle ligament damage during the match with Spurs on Thursday night, limping off at half-time.
Now they may try and sign New York red Bulls defender Aaron Long on loan for the rest of the season.
28-year old Long is currently in a training camp with the US national side and is expected to play in a friendly against Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday night.
He broke into the Red Bulls’ team in 2017 and has since gone on to make 120 appearances for them in all competitions. In 2018 he was named MLS Defender of the Year.
He has won 18 senior caps for the USA to date, scoring three times for his country.
