Monaco are the favourites to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira on loan for the rest of the season.
The Uruguayan international is currently on loan with Atlético Madrid, but the Gunners are concerned that he is depreciating in value during his spell with the Spanish league leaders due to a lack of playing time. He has started only two league games for them so far.
The Gunners are keen for him to be playing regular football and may now recall him to loan the 24-year-out again to where he is guaranteed more minutes on the pitch.
Valencia and Lazio are amongst the other clubs interested, but Monaco now appear best positioned to get a deal in place before Monday evening’s deadline.
Atlético may not want to let Torreira go, as he adds squad depth as they continue to battle for the league title in the second half of the season.
