Liverpool are on the verge of signing highly-rated Derby stroker Kaide Gordon.
The 16-year-old has already broken through into the Derby County first-team. However, the Championship club are cash-strapped ahead of a planned takeover and, struggling to pay wages currently, they are desperate for a funds’ injection.
Gordon has been tracked by a number of clubs, with Tottenham, in particular, very interested in him. However, Liverpool now look to have won the race and will seal the deal once a suitable compensation package can be agreed with Derby.
The teenager made his first-team debut in the defeat of Birmingham City on December 28th, becoming in the process the fourth youngest player ever to feature in the Derby main team.
He has already been capped by England at under-16 level, and is reckoned by many experts as one of the finest players in Europe in his position.
Derby are now managed by former Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney.
