Shkodran Mustafi could leave Arsenal before the close of the January window.
The German defender is out of contract in the summer and has made it clear that he was not prepared to sign any contract extension were it offered to him.
And now with the Gunners seemingly well-covered in defensive positions, he could be allowed to leave the club early. Geno have been mentioned as one possible destination, although there is o agreement about terms as yet.
Mustafi has angered Arsenal fans in recent days with his farewell message to Mesut Ozil, in which he labelled his fellow German “unselfish”, which is the opposite to what many supporters feel.
Allowing Mustafi to leave would also see the break-up of the small dressing room clique that coalesced around Ozil, with Sead Kolasinac already sent out on loan to Schalke.
It would also allow the Gunners to trim their wage bill even further.
