PSG are considering hijacking Barcelona’s attempts to sign Eric Garcia from Manchester City.
The 20-ywear-old defender is out of contract at the Etihad in the summer but, despite being offered a new deal, has made it clear that he has no intention of agreeing to an extension.
Instead, he has been heavily linked with a return to Barcelona, the club where he began his career. At one stage it looked likely he might even make the move in the current window.
However, those plans have been wrecked after a delay to the Barcelona elections with the various presidency candidates unable to reach a consensus on who the club should target in the transfer window.
And that has now given PSG the opportunity to step in and try to make a move for Garcia instead.
New manager Mauricio Pochettino is in the middle of assessing his squad, and has identified defensive reinforcements as a priority area.
