Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe is to be offered a bumper new contract by Arsenal.
The 20-year-old is already under contract at the Emirates until 2023, but they want to protect his value by extending his stay, offering him a pay increase that will effectively more than double his weekly wages to £40,000 a week.
Smith-Rowe was brought into the Arsenal team for the Boxing Day match against Chelsea and has helped bring the creativity to the team so missing in the first part of the season. He has provided three assists in four Premier League goals, and scored in the FA Cup win over Newcastle.
That run has propelled the Gunners up the table, and now they want to reward Smith Rowe for his contribution.
He has also saved them a potential fortune in transfer fees because they do not have to break the bank to sign a creative midfielder in the current window.
