Pep Guardiola is set to be handed a £200 million war chest to help rebuild his squad as he looks for further success in Europe and on the domestic front.
Top of his shopping list could be a new striker, with Sergio Agüero set to become a free agent at the end of June and struggling with persistent injury problems.
Names that have been mentioned as possible replacements include Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund, and former United striker Romelu Lukaku, as well as Benfica’s Darwin Nunez.
Guardiola has already indicated that he does not expect the club to be active in the current window, because he does not believe there is value to be had in the market at the current time.
Instead, it now looks like he is keeping his powder dry for when the summer transfer market opens for business.
