The agent of Fernandinho has hinted that his client may return to Brazil when his contract with Manchester City expires.
The 35-year old City captain is out of contract in June and now it looks like he could be set for a return to his former club Athletico Paransense rather than look to extend his stay at the Etihad.
The defensive midfielder joined City in 2013 from the Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk and has gone on to make 330 appearances for them, scoring 24 goals for them, although his strike for them in the Carabao Cup semi-final last week against Manchester United was his first for more than two years.
He began his career with the Brazilian side before moving to Shakhtar in 2005.
The Brazilian was elected as club captain at the start of this season in succession to David Silva.
He has made 53 appearances for Brazil, the last of his caps being awarded two years ago.
