Spurs are ready to step up their efforts to sign Croatian winger Ivan Perišić on loan during the current window.
Perišić has long been a target for Mourinho, even dating back to his days at Manchester United, and his current club Inter Milan are willing to let him go, because he does not fit into Antonio Conte’s preferred 3-5-2 formation.
Last season, Perišić was sent on loan to Bayern Munich, where he helped them win the Champions League, scoring eight and providing 10 assists for the German champions.
Perišić’s arrival could put an end to any hopes that Gareth Bale has of making his loan move from Real Madrid into a permanent move. The Welshman has struggled to replicate the form that made him the most expensive player in the world when he left Spurs to join Real in 2013, with injuries restricting him to just one Premier League start.
