Xherdan Shaqiri will not be allowed to leave Liverpool during the current transfer window.
Previously the Premier League champions had indicated that they would be willing to sell the Swiss international. However, they have had a change of mind. IN part this is due to Diego Jota’s knee injury, which keeps him sidelined and also because Shaqiri is now back to full fitness.
It is believed that he may still have a part to play in the second half of the season, after making his first appearance for the first team in several months when he came on as a substitute in the disappointing goalless draw away at Newcastle.
Speaking after that match Jurgen Klopp said “Shaq is back and that the best news tonight”.
Liverpool have been linked as well with a host of centre-half reinforcements with both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez out with long-term injuries, but Klopp is reported to be happy with his internal options, including Fabinho, Rhys Williams, and Nat Phillips.
