Tottenham are interested in signing RB Leipzig’s Marcel Sabitzer.
He has been on Jose Mourinho’s radar since scoring two goals that helped knock Spurs out of the Champions League last season.
However, the Austrian is out of contract with the Bundesliga side in 18-months’ time, and now they are considering selling him, with issues over his wage demands.
He is the club’s top earner on £5.5 million a year, and with him looking for an increase if he agrees to an extension, Leipzig feel that it may be better to sell the £45 million player now, rather than see him walk away for free when his deal runs down.
Their current captain, 26-year-old Sabitzer scored 16 goals in all competitions last season.
Sabitzer joined the German side in 2014 from Rapid Wien, and has made 194 appearances for the in all competitions, scoring 43 times. He has been capped 44 times by Austria.
