Manchester City will not be going into the transfer market to buy a new striker in January.
Pep Guardiola’s team are struggling to hit the target this season, with Gabriel Jesus out of form, and Sergio Agüero having a series of fitness issues. Neither was available for Saturday’s win at Southampton. Although Jesus might be back for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie at Arsenal.
However, Guardiola has downplayed suggestions that that club could be tempted to get their cheque book out saying “No I don’t think so because the economic situation around world is what it is”.
Jesus missed Saturday’s game after being injured during training, whilst Aguero has recovered from the knee problem he picked up towards the end of last season, but has now got other fitness problems.
City have only scored twice in their last three games and are finding it hard to keep pace with Liverpool who put seven past Crystal Palace at the weekend.
