Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma is being tracked by Liverpool.
The Premier League champions, who underlined their determination to retain their title with a seven-goal thrashing of Crystal Palace on Saturday, are lining-up alternatives in case Georginio Wijnaldum decides not to extend his contract with the club.
The 30-year-old Dutchman is out of contract next summer, and has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.
Various alternatives to him are being considered, and now it emerges that one of them is Bissouma.
The 24-year-old joined Brighton from Lille for a fee of £15 million, and has since gone to establish himself as a proven performer at premier League level. Such has been his progress this season in particular, that the South Coast side are bracing themselves for offers to be made for him when the January transfer windows.
Liverpool are unlikely to be the only suitors for his signature though. Manchester United, Monaco and several Spanish clubs are also monitoring his situation.
