Gareth Bale wants to return to Real Madrid once his loan spell comes to an end.
The 31-year-old returned to his former club in North London on a season-long loan, but he is still under contract with Real until 2023, and has not given up on resurrecting his career with the Spanish giants.
He left because of his deteriorating relationship with manager Zinedine Zidane, but he still has admirers in Madrid, not least the club’s powerful president Florentine Pérez. Zidane has not enjoyed the best start to the season and there has been speculation that he could pay for that with his job, sooner, or later.
And with him out the way, that could pave the way for Bale’s return.
Real would be open to selling Bale permanently, but a major stumbling block are his wages, which at £650,000 a week, are beyond the reach of all but a handful of clubs.
Real are subsidising Bale’s spell back at Spurs.
