Manchester United and City are ready to battle for the signature of Erling Haaland next summer.
United have long been associated with Haaland and were interested in signing him whilst he was still with Red Bull Salzburg, before he opted to join Borussia Dortmund instead in January.
He has since gone on to score 33 goals in 33 games for the Bundesliga side but his chances of leaving them sooner than later have increased following the sacking of Lucien Favre, the manager who brought him to Germany on Sunday.
Favre was fired after his side lost 5 – 1 at home to newly promoted Vfb Stuttgart on Saturday, and now there are doubts about whether they can hold on to the array of young talent that they currently have at the club.
Included among then, of course, is England winger Jadon Sancho, another long-time target for United who may now be ready for a return to the Premier League.
