Scottish midfielder Billy Gilmour will not be loaned out in January by Chelsea.
The 19-year-old produced a man of the match performance earlier this week against Krasnodar in the Champions League, after his return to action earlier this month following an injury which cut short his 2019 – 2020 season.
He faces tough competition for a place in Chelsea’s midfield and the Scotland under-21 international has reportedly attracted interest from a number of clubs, including Napoli, who want to take him on loan when the transfer window opens.
However, Frank Lampard has dismissed such suggestion and insists that he is part of his first team plans for the rest of the season.
Speaking after the match Lampard said ” He’s going to be a Chelsea player so it’s just about making sure the pathway is right for him.”
Gilmour began his youth career with Rangers before moving south to join Chelsea in 2017. He has made 8 senior appearances so far, including Tuesday night’s game.
