Liverpool are set to reward Fabinho with a new contract.
The 27-year-old Brazilian’s existing deal at Anfield runs until 2023, but they want to give him a new contract on improved terms as recognition of his growing importance to them. He currently earns £100,000 a week but that is set to be significantly boosted.
Fabinho’s role in the team has become significantly greater his season following the major injuries suffered by the centre-back pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. That has meant that that the defensive midfielder ahs had to move back to the centre of defence in their absence, where he has performed with distinction.
Fabinho himself has previously made his feelings known about signing a new contract saying, “I am happy here”.
The former Monaco man moved to Liverpool in a £39 million deal in 2018 and has since helped them win the Champions League and the Premier League title last season.
