Arsenal are interested in signing Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge.
They were among a host of clubs interested in signing him last January, but he opted to join the South Yorkshire club instead, joining them in a club-record deal worth £22 million.
Despite that the Gunners are continuing to track his progress and may be ready to make another move for him in the event that United are relegated this year. Chris Wilder’s side have made a disappointing start to their second season back in the top flight. And have just a single point from their nine games played so far.
Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen his midfield and views Berge as a candidate to partner Thomas Partey who they signed after triggering his release clause with Atlético Madrid.
They may face competitions from their rivals though. Liverpool, Manchester United and Spurs are also interested in the Norwegian.
Berge has made 25 appearances for United, scoring twice.
