Chelsea have begun talks with Brazilian defender Tiago Silva about extending his stay at the club.
The 36-year-old Brazilian veteran joined the club in the summer after leaving PSG, joining the West London club on an initial 12-month deal, with an option for a further year. However, they have already seen enough to want to extend his contract until 2022.
Silva is reported to be open to the idea, having settled well in West London.
The former Brazil international made his debut for the Blues in the EFL Cup against Barnsley and was handed the captain’s arm band for his first Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion three days later. He notched his first goal for his new club in their 4-1 victory over Sheffield United earlier this month.
At one stage rated the best defender in the world. Silva played 93 times for Brazil, although he and his wife became French citizens last year.
