Solskjaer downplays Henderson exit rumours

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had downplayed suggestions that Goalkeeper Dewan Henderson wants to leave the club on loan in January.

Reports in the media have suggested that Henderson wants to leave in search of more regular game time. Something he needs if he is to press his claims for inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros next summer.

Brighton, Leeds and Celtic have been suggested as possible destinations, but Solskjaer insists “Dean wants to stay at Man United and play for Man United”.

Henderson signed a new five-year deal at United in the summer but has had to bide his time this season and he continues to understudy David de Gea. And he insists that the 23-year-old will get his chances, given the number of games that Manchester United have to be play between now and Christmas.

Henderson has made just the three appearances for United so far this campaign two in the EFL Cup and one in the Champions League.

He was again on the bench on Tuesday night for United’s meeting with Istanbul Besaksehir in the Champions League at Old Trafford.
