Chelsea are considering making a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham instead of Declan Rice.
The West Ham player remains a top target for Frank Lampard’s side, but there are concerns about the size of his valuation and the East London’s club willingness to sell their star asset.
Instead, now they are considering 17-year old Bellingham as a viable alternative. The teenager only joined the German club from Birmingham City in the summer, but he has already begun to make his mark in the Bundesliga. Last week he made his full England debut when he appeared as a substitute against the Republic of Ireland.
Part of Bellingham’s attraction is his versatility – he can play either as a deep-lying midfielder or in more advanced areas of the pitch.
Dortmund signed him for £25 million only four months ago, so will not let him go without making a tidy profit on the deal. However, his price tag is unlikely to match Rice’s valuation of £70 million.
