Chelsea are hoping that they may finally have solved their Tiemoué Bakayoko problem.
The French midfielder joined the Stamford Bridge club from Monaco for a fee of £40 million in 2017, but he never settled in the Premier League and has spent three loan spells away from the club.
The most recent of those is in Serie A with Napoli, and he has made such an impression that they now want to keep him on a permanent deal, despite their loan agreement containing no such provision.
The two clubs are reported to be in discussions and have come to a tentative agreement, with a likely transfer fee of €18 million likely to be paid by the Italian side, When the €2 million loan fee is taken into account, that will amount to €20 million (£17.9 million) less than half what Chelsea paid for them.
However, they will be pleased just to get his wages off their books.
