Pep Guardiola is edging closer to agreeing a new deal at Manchester City.
The 49-year-old is out of contract at The Etihad next summer, and there were fears that he was about to end his five-year reign as manager.
But now there are indications that he is prepared to stay, which will be a major boost to their chances of convincing Lionel Messi to sign for them. The Argentine has previously indicated that Guardiola remaining in charge was a pre-condition before he would consider leaving Barcelona for the Premier League.
Since assuming the reins at City, Guardiola has won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, and the League Cup on three occasions. He has already stayed longer at City than he did with either of the two previous clubs he managed – Barcelona and Bayern Munich – but now he looks like he is ready to extend his stay there longer.
