Manchester United are interested in Borussia Dortmund defender Dan-Axel Zagadou, although it may be next summer before they are in a position to make a move for him.
The Premier League side do want a new centre-back to partner Harry Maguire but need to get the likes of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo off the books.
Zagadou is just 21, but highly rated by Dortmund, although he has been unable to pay this season so fa r due to injury.
He ruptured knee ligaments for the second time this year in August and is still making is way back to fitness.
He is under contract with the German side until 2022, but United may be able to buy him cheaply next summer.
He is likely to be a less expensive option than RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upemecano who is also being linked with a move to Old Trafford next year.
