Liverpool are being linked with former Watford player Daryl Janmaat.
The Dutch international is available on a free transfer, after leaving Vicarage Road in October, following Watford’s relegation to the Championship.
But now he could be interesting the Premier League champions who need defensive cover following the news that Joe Gomes is likely to miss a substantial part of the season. Gomes picked up a knee injury whilst on international duty with England and had surgery on Wednesday.
They have already been deprived of the services of Virgil van Dijk for the rest of the campaign following his clash wit Jordan Pickford in the Merseyside derby.
31-year old Janmaat is nominally a eight-back but he can play more centrally as well. With Trent Alexander-Arnold also sidelined at the moment, if Liverpool do make a move for Janmaat they will have a player who can cover several positions.
