Manchester United hopes of signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund have been dealt a blow.
They came close to signing the prolific Norwegian striker from Red Bull Salzburg a year ago, but instead he chose to join the Bundesliga side for whom he ahs already scored 26 goals in 28 appearances.
His current contract with the German side does not, contrary to speculation, contain a release clause but it is understood that there is an agreement is un place between the player’s agent, Mino Raiola and Dortmund which will allow him to leave them in 2022.
And whilst that may give renewed hope to United that they can secure his services, the Spanish media are reporting that Real Madrid are emerging as the favourites to sign him when he does become available.
The two clubs already have an excellent working relationship, and Haaland Is close friends with fellow Norwegian Martin Ødegaard who is already at the Bernabeu.
