Having been linked with a move for Schalke defender Ozan Kabak, reports from Germany suggest that Liverpool may be interested in one of his teammates.
19-year-pld Malick Thiaw has reportedly been contacted by the Premier League club about a possible future transfer.
He was born in Germany to a Senegalese mother and Finnish mother and holds a passport for the Scandinavian nation. He began his career in the youth set-up of Fortuna Dusseldorf, his hometown club, before spells in the academy systems of Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach, before making his way to Schalke.
He is still very raw, having made just six first-team appearances to date, and one for the future, not somebody who could be expected to challenge for a first-team place at Anfield in the immediate future.
A commanding figure at 6ft 3 inches, he is currently under contract until 2024, and there is no release clause in his contract.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
