Arsenal are open to offering midfielder Mohammed Elneny a contract extension.
Many assumed that the 28-year old’s time at the Emirates was over, after spending last season on loan in Turkey with Beşiktaş, and it was widely expected that he would be sold in the summer.
Instead he stayed and has fought his way back in to the first-team, after convincing Mikel Arteta of his value to the squad. He has already made 9 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions and was one o the stars of their win over Manchester United on Sunday, helping to partner Thomas Partey in the midfield.
Signed from Swiss club Basel in January 2016, Elneny’s current deal in North London comes to am end next summer, but, for a player thought to have no future at the club, his prospects are now looking considerably brighter.
He is the current Egyptian vice-captain.
