City duo linked to bumper new contracts

Manchester City pair Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne are being lined with bumper new contracts that would make them the highest paid players in the Premier League.

The two are both already under contract until 2023, but City want to ensure they secure their long-term futures.

Talks with Sterling have been in progress since 2018, and City are hopeful they can persuade him to agree to new terms worth £400,000 a week.

In the case of de Bruyne, he was on the verge of putting pen to paper earlier this year when his agent was arrested on charges of financial mismanagement by the Belgian authorities.

The pair have been seeking various assurances from the club before signing, chief among which are guarantees about the future of manager pep Guardiola who is out of contract himself next summer.
