Chelsea have been linked with a January move for Bosnian defender Anel Ahmedhodžić.
The 21-year-old had a brief spell in English football with Nottingham Forest but made just one appearance for the Championship club before returning to Sweden to join his hometown club Malmo.
Since then he has blossomed and his growing reputation has seen him attract the attention of clubs all across Europe.
Premier League Chelsea are amongst them and are ready to offer £6.9 million to sign him in January.
Frank Lampard’s side already strengthened their defence in the summer by signing Ben Chilwell from Leicester and bringing in Thiago Silva from PSG on a free transfer, but the manager is looking to strengthen his options further.
Ahmedhodžić was born in Sweden to Bosnian parents and having played for Sweden at youth level and in one friendly international, chose to switch his sports citizenship earlier this year. He made his debut for his adopted country in the Nations League against Northern Ireland last month.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
